over with water then:
Take the icing sheet (backing sheet on the bottom),
holding by the backing sheet roll it over the sharp edge of a table or bench.
Flip over and roll the other side across the table.
The icing should be close to popping off the backing sheet.
Carefully remove the backing sheet off the icing, if it looks like if is going to tear, dry the icing according to the trouble shooting below.
It should release easily. If you have any difficulties flip the icing over,
image side down on a clean surface and peel the backing sheet away from the
icing. If you have difficulties see trouble shooting.
Lay the icing sheet; centre first if possible on the freshly iced cake.
If the icing on the cake has set or has a skin on it spritz some water on the cake very
sparingly to dampen.
Once the icing is on the cake smooth to remove any air bubbles, work quickly.
Pat the icing gently with your hands to remove any air bubbles.
You can use your hands but make sure they are clean and dry.
The edible icing may 'melt' into the icing on the cake by absorbing the moisture from
the icing from the freshly iced cake. The icing may look oily as
this ‘melting’ process happens; this is quite normal and will make your edible
icing look slightly shiny when the edible icing has completely ‘melted’.

Warnings:
Never put cling film over the icing once it is on the cake – it will stick and ruin the image.
Once the icing is on the cake and smoothed out resist the urge to move the icing. It will tear.
If there are any air bubbles that need to be removed carefully use a clean sewing needle to puncture them, then gently tapping the bubble to deflate.
Trouble Shooting
If the icing fails to pop off the backing sheet.
Carefully use a hair dryer over the image for a couple of minutes concentrating on dark areas. Repeat until it releases easily.
If this fails to work put the icing in the freezer for 30 seconds then follow the application instructions. Be very careful with this method as sometimes it can make it worse.
If all else fails give me a ring 027 2016945 and I will give you a hand.
Additional Info
You can also put the icing sheet on an ice-cream cake, or royal icing.
Buttercream icing will give the best result; any type of icing should work with edible icing.
If you are using rolled fondant make sure that you dampen the area under where the icing will be making sure you include where the edge of the icing will be otherwise your icing will not stick to the cake.
You can cut the icing with scissors or a craft knife before it is removed from the baking sheet if necessary.
Just make sure you leave one end uncut to assist with removing the icing from the backing sheet.
Storage
Always store your icing somewhere dry, away from moisture until it is put on the cake.
An unused dry bedroom is an ideal place to store your icing, make sure it is kept flat, sealed in its bag and nothing is placed on top of it.
Place your icing on the cake close to when it is going to be used, to get the best results apply it on the day the cake is going to be served. If the icing is placed on the cake more than a day ahead of time some of the colours may bleed or change colour, there is nothing that can be done about this. Most of the time it will be fine - Icing4u cannot be held responsible if this happens.
